Cramer to chair subcommittee on intelligence
U.S. Rep. Bud Cramer will chair a subcommittee that provides oversight — including inquiries and investigations — of the intelligence community, he said Thursday.
Cramer, from Huntsville, accepted the position on the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence's Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations.
He was ranking Democrat of the subcommittee in the previous session of Congress.
"My goal in leading this panel will be to make certain the intelligence community collects information effectively and efficiently in order to protect our country," Cramer said.
"It is vital that we continue to demand the very best from the (director of national intelligence) and other intelligence leaders."
Cramer is also a senior member of the House Select Committee on Intelligence, a member of the House Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on Defense, a member of the Select Intelligence Oversight Panel and a member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence's Subcommittee on Technical and Tactical Intelligence.
Cramer has represented the Fifth Congressional District since 1991. He recently was elected co-chairman of the Congressional Tennessee Valley Authority Caucus.
