Brenda Freeman looks out the door of Bud's Chevron on Westmeade Street Southwest after a power outage Thursday afternoon blacked out parts of the city and Lawrence County. A wreck at Eighth Street and Runnymeade Avenue Southwest, in which a car struck a utility pole, left 2,414 customers in Southwest Decatur along Beltline Road without power. Miles Wright, dispatch communications supervisor for Decatur Utilities, said the 3:22 p.m. wreck caused the initial outage, which spread into the distribution line. Tennessee Valley Authority spokesman John Moulton said TVA and DU restored power by 5:45 p.m.
