AFHS to help with spay/neutering costs

The Animal Friends Humane Society is offering discounts for spaying or neutering your pets.

“It is that time of year when the animal shelter sees a huge increase in puppies and kittens, more than they can adopt out,” said Janet Jenkins, AFHS president. “Many don’t even get to the shelter and are left to fend for themselves.”

To reduce the number of strays, the humane society and area veterinarians will each pay a third of the surgery cost with the owners paying the remaining third.

The program is for households of at least four who earn $40,000 or less.

AFHS will allocate $2,400 per quarter to offset the costs. The program will be offered first-come first-served until the money runs out. For more information, call 351-2347 or
contact your veterinarian.
