Wreck injures 1 on Gordon Terry
By Seth Burkett
A driver was taken to Huntsville Hospital by MedFlight after a wreck Tuesday night on Gordon Terry Parkway.
Christine Rose of Decatur said her brother-in-law, John Rose of Huntsville, had just left her workplace on McEntire Lane at about 9 p.m., headed to her apartment at Wheeler Estates. His 9-year-old nephew, Dave Rose, also was in the pickup.
State troopers said the southbound pickup collided with a westbound tractor-trailer while crossing Gordon Terry.
The collision tore the bed and a wheel from the pickup, which was left in the median facing east. John Rose apparently suffered neck injuries in the collision, Christine Rose said.
MedFlight took him to Huntsville Hospital, but his injuries were not believed life-threatening. His condition was unavailable.
Dave Rose was uninjured apart from bruising to his shoulder.
State troopers said the driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
Christine Rose said her work is often disrupted by the sound of car crashes at the intersection, which has stop signs for McEntire traffic.
“It’s different when it’s family, but I work right over at that auto parts store and we see them all the time. For the safety of everybody, they really should put a light here,” she said.
