PRICEVILLE — A red-lettered banner on the back of Priceville Family Medicine & Pediatrics building facing Alabama 67 and two small signs at the driveway proclaim the facility is for lease.

Some feared it had
closed.

Not so fast, said Barry Buchanan, business development associate of Southern Rural Health Care from the company’s headquarters in Russellville.

“We’re open. Nothing has changed in our operations in Priceville,” he said.

“We’re simply negotiating a new lease contract. We want our patients and perspective patients to understand Priceville Family Medicine is open as usual.”

Mary Frances Sewell Worley of Huntsville owns the building.

Decatur General Hospital opened the facility at 68 Marco Drive, next to Super 8 motel, in July 1999.

Susan Claiborne, marketing director at Decatur General, said Southern Rural Health Care took over operations “a while back in a seamless business transaction.”

Buchanan said he believed the transaction was in 2003.

Dr. Valerie Wright is the family practitioner and Dr. David Hill, who arrived in November, is the pediatrician.

Haley Layfield, office manager, said the facility is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon.
