Town Creek Subway open despite crash

TOWN CREEK — Subway employees opened the Town Creek store at its regular time Monday morning despite damage caused by a car crashing into the side of the building at about 4 a.m.

Town Creek police said a tire blew on a car driven by Tereva Latice Almond, 22, of 40 Village Street, Town Creek, causing the vehicle to swerve off the street and into Subway, breaking through the cement wall.

“The damage wasn’t as bad as I thought it was when they called this morning,” said Subway manager Peggy Smith. “We’re just glad they weren’t hurt badly.”

An ambulance took Almond to Decatur General Hospital where she was released Monday morning.

MedFlight transported the unidentified passenger to Huntsville Hospital.
