$3,000 of drugs taken from pharmacy

A smash-and-grab at a local pharmacy netted burglars about $3,000 worth of prescription painkillers Monday night, Decatur police said.

Sgt. Steve Campbell, a police spokesman, said someone broke two glass front doors at Bendall's Pharmacy, 1317 14th Ave. S.E., and took bottles containing about a thousand Lorcet and Lortab pills shortly after 10 p.m.

The last break-in to the pharmacy was March 6, when about $450 worth of painkillers were taken.

Nothing was reported stolen in a burglary to the pharmacy in early February.
