Adtran chairman dies at 66
Huntsville-based Adtran Inc., which provides network access products and systems for In-
ternet access, announced that its co-founder and chairman, Mark C. Smith, has died because of complications from pneumonia.
He was 66, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Smith was chief executive from the company’s start in 1986 until he retired in September 2005.
Smith is survived by his wife, Linda Jones Smith, and two children, Cyndi Smith Lewis and Clay Smith.
Adtran employs 1,600.
