TANNER — When authorities banged on an alleged drug dealer's door, those inside stashed 10 pounds of pot in a bathtub, Sheriff Mike Blakely said.

The sheriff said drug investigators served a search warrant at 9915 Lucas Ferry Road south of Lindsay Road in Tanner on Tuesday.

"We had some people buy drugs off them during our investigation," Blakely said.

The two alleged dealers, who Blakely said also are illegal aliens, got the shipment of marijuana from Brownsville, Texas, he said.

"When we beat on the door of the trailer, they pitched the dope in the tub," Blakely said.

That proved not to be a good hiding place as investigators confiscated the bricks of marijuana worth $7,000.

Authorities charged the homeowner, Jesus Holguin, 36, and his alleged accomplice, Ramon Minjares Sanchez, 28, of Alabama 127, Athens, with trafficking in marijuana.

Both are in jail without bond set.

Immigration

Blakely said he will notify the Immigration and Naturalization Service to place a hold on the duo.

"They're Hispanic illegals, so once they have a trial and are convicted and serve their time, they'll be deported out of the country," Blakely said.
