Limestone expels Ardmore student

ATHENS — The Limestone County Board of Education expelled an Ardmore High School student who threatened to commit suicide and kill another student.

Board member Earl Glaze said the student and his parents did not attend Monday's hearing.

He said the student threatened to kill himself and another student when he returned to school from spring break. The staff received information about the threat and suspended the student the day school resumed.

The board expelled him for one year. The student is getting treatment.

Tuesday night, the board will hold an expulsion hearing for a seventh-grader who brought an unloaded gun to West Limestone High School. The student said he needed the gun for protection, Sheriff Mike Blakely said.
