Area residents flock to Chicken and Egg Festival in Moulton

MOULTON — The Alabama Chicken and Egg Festival kicks off Saturday at 10 a.m. with the Little Chick Beauty Walk, the Motorcycle Chicken Run and the BBQ Chicken Cook-off.

The day is filled with activities for all ages, including Rowdy Rooster puppet shows, egg-toss competitions and karaoke.

And of course, there will be plenty of food vendors offering every chicken or egg dish imaginable.

The main entertainment starts at 5:30 p.m., when Decatur band Bishop Black takes the stage, followed by Microwave Dave & the Nukes at 6 and the festival’s headliner, The Alabama Blues Brothers, at 8:30.

“Riverboat John” Ferguson, who took his act to Lawrence County schools this week, is scheduled to perform at the festival at 10 a.m. and again at 5:30 p.m. He will also perform Sunday at 1:30 and 4 p.m.

The two-day, outdoor festival, a celebration of all things poultry, is at the Lions Club Fairgrounds. Admission is $2 for adults, free for children 5 and under.
