Council approves road, sidewalk improvements

The City Council on Monday approved $572,676 in road and sidewalk improvements for Southwest Decatur.

Mark Petersohn, director of the city's Engineering and Public Works departments, said two projects, which would widen Sandlin Road to three lanes and extend the sidewalk from Brookhaven Middle School to Wilson Morgan Park, should begin early next month.

Weather permitting, the project should be completed by December, Petersohn said.
