Workshop fire

A fire in a workshop behind the house at 1609 Sixth Ave. S.W. caught fire shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday, destroying the workshop, the boat and a four-wheeler and causing mild heat damage to the house.

Decatur Fire Marshal Darwin Clark said an electrical short sparked a fire in the shop's wall.

"They had a couple of gas cans in there, and they melted and helped spread the fire, so it got going pretty good," Clark said.

A dozen firefighters from three stations put out the blaze. No one was injured.
