2 allegedly rob woman in Athens

ATHENS — “Just shoot her,” a robbery suspect told his accomplice armed with a shotgun, Athens police said.

The “her” the robber referred to was their victim, Capt. Marty Bruce said.

The victim had returned Tuesday night to her Seventh Avenue home after visiting her parents. The men approached her and demanded money, Bruce said.

He identified them as Luis Esteban Zamora, 26, of 19260 Airfield St., Lot 77, Athens and Luis Hernandez, 26, of 214 22nd Ave., Decatur.

They demanded money and her keys and searched her, Bruce said, but she repeatedly denied having money until Zamora allegedly said to shoot.

The duo allegedly took her driver license and an undisclosed amount of cash, Bruce said. Officer Shelby Castro spotted their vehicle on Airfield Street, and the victim gave Sgt. Greg Lott a positive identification.

Police charged the two with first-degree robbery. They were in the Limestone County Jail on Tuesday without bond set.
