Alabama's unemployment increases slightly from February
MONTGOMERY (AP) — Alabama's unemployment rose slightly in March to 3.4 percent.
The March figure was up from 3.3 percent in February and tied the March 2006 rate.
The state Department of Industrial Relations reported that counties with the lowest unemployment rates in March were Shelby with 2.2 percent; Blount, Madison and Baldwin with 2.5 percent; and Autauga and Chilton with 2.6 percent. Counties with the highest rates were Wilcox with 7.3 percent, Bullock with 7.2 percent, and Perry with 6.7 percent.
