Daily wins 7 advertising awards
The Decatur Daily won seven awards in the 2007 Alabama Press Association Advertising Contest, including two first-place awards for color ads and special sections.
Daily Graphic Artist Rhonda Stennett won first place in the Best Single Ad One-half Page and Under-Color category with an ad for optometrist Chris
Stennett also captured second place in the Best Single Ad One-half Page and Under-Black and White category with an ad for Veterinary Regional Referral Hospital.
The newspaper staff won first place for Best Regularly Scheduled Special Section with its "How to Choose" section.
The staff also won second place in the same category for a special section called "Home for the Holidays."
In the Best Single Ad Over One-half Page-Color category, the staff won second place with advertising for Smarty Plants and third place with an ad designed by Art Department Manager Stephen V. Johnson for Sam Frank & Moore.
In the Best Use of Humor category, The Daily won third place with an ad designed by Graphic Artist Beth Parker for Cedar Springs Senior Campus.
Graphic Artist Patrick Sowell was part of the staff awards.
