Auburn University Hayley Center evacuated after bomb threat

AUBURN (AP) — Auburn University’s Hayley Center was evacuated Thursday afternoon after a bomb threat was phoned in to the city 911 center, police said.

Auburn police received a call from an unidentified male caller at 2:04 p.m. advising that there was a bomb in the Hayley Center, said police spokesman Capt. Tom Stofer. He said police responded immediately and the building was evacuated.

Police completed a sweep of the building at about 4:15 p.m. They found no evidence of a bomb, Stofer said.

University spokesman Mike Clardy said classes in the building were canceled.
