A Decatur code enforcement officer issued a citation April 30 to the owner of this house for violations of the city's ordinance. The owner must voluntarily correct the violations by May 14.

Hiding in plain sight

Location: 1507 First Ave. S.W.

Description: A car is jacked up in front of the house without back wheels. A neighbor says the resident uses the front yard as a garage and consistently works on wrecked cars.

Property owner: Robert E. Lewis Jr., who lives at another Decatur address, was unavailable for comment.

Ordinance: It is unlawful to store or keep on the premises of any residential or commercial property any inoperable vehicle.

Responsible officials: Councilman Ronny Russell, who represents the district, said he was not aware of the violation but would submit it to the Community Development Department. The Code Enforcement Division issued a citation to Lewis on April 30. When a reporter asked Michelle Jordan, director of Community Development and Planning, for an appointment to review several Daily photos and point out possible violations, she refused. She said, I dont know The Dailys motives.
