Police charge 2 after slaying of Tuskegee student

MONTGOMERY (AP) — Tuskegee police have charged two people with capital murder in the shooting death
of a Tuskegee University student.

Investigators arrested Quentin Motez Davis, 18, with a rural Macon County address, and Romanita Michelle Cloud, 18, of Tuskegee, on Wednesday night.

They were being held without bond Thursday in the killing of Canon Christian Jones, 18, a freshman from Richmond, Calif.

Robbery has been established as the motive, Tuskegee Police Chief Lester Patrick said in a statement Thursday.

A motorist found Jones lying on the sidewalk of Old Montgomery Road at about 8:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Police said he had been shot.
