Police say man robbed at gunpoint
ATHENS — Two robbers grabbed an Athens man walking in the northern part of town Thursday and pointed a gun to his head, Athens police Capt. Marty Bruce said.
The robbers came out of an alley on North Madison Street near a Hispanic church at 11:36 p.m.
Bruce said one grabbed the victim from behind while the other held a semi-automatic handgun to his head.
The robbers searched the victim but found only a cell phone, which they took, Bruce said.
The victim called police from his home.
He described the robbers as two black males, both wearing black shorts with red spots, black T-shirts, black bandanas and black hats.

Man caught with untaxed cigarettes
A convenience store owner faces charges for selling cigarettes without giving the city
its due, Decatur police said Friday.
Sgt. Faron White said Thu Von Nguyen, 43, of Harvest runs Mojo’s Deli, a Texaco station at 3065 Alabama 20 W.
White’s Organized Crime Unit arrested Nguyen on Thursday on three counts of possessing untaxed cigarettes, a misdemeanor.
“We did a cigarette inspection on his store, and he had a little over 1,300 packs of cigarettes that did not have the city tax stamp on them. I could have charged him with one count for every pack of cigarettes he had,” White said.
At eight cents a pack, the untaxed packs would cost the city about $104.
“It doesn’t sound like a lot, but when you consider he’s probably been selling untaxed cigarettes the whole time, there’s no telling how much the city’s been out,” White said.
