Flipped over

Decatur firemen rescue a trapped motorist following a two-vehicle wreck on Sixth Avenue Southeast at Eighth Street at about 5 p.m. Friday. Firefighter Mark Schrimsher said firefighters arrived to find the pickup on its side in the middle of the road with the driver, John Taylor, 65, and passenger, Darnet Taylor, 54, both of Decatur, trapped within.

"We checked on the extent of their injuries, and once we found that their injuries were minor, we helped them get out of their seatbelts and walk through the back window of the truck that we had busted out," Schrimsher said.

Both were taken to Decatur General Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the other car, Sara Johns, 17, of Falkville, also suffered minor injuries, police said. The fluid in the picture is transmission fluid.
