School locked down after guns are found

NOTASULGA (AP) — Notasulga High School students were locked inside after officials found three guns on campus.

A deputy responded to a call at the school at 8:01 a.m. Friday and confiscated a weapon, Macon County Sheriff David Warren said. The deputy called for backup because of reports that there were other weapons on campus, and two other guns were found on students.

Three students were seen taken away from the school in patrol cars, the Opelika-Auburn News reported Saturday.

Warren said the sheriff’s office couldn’t release more information while the investigation is ongoing at the 115-student school.

Officials with the school and the Macon County Board of Education also did not provide details.
