Stabbing victimís condition improves

MOULTON — A stabbing victim was upgraded to good condition Sunday at Huntsville Hospital, a hospital spokeswoman said.

Someone stabbed Billy Ray Gholston Jr. of Moulton in the neck and chest area between 1 and 2 a.m. Saturday on Moulton-Danville Road, Moulton Police Chief Lyndon McWhorter said.

Gholston was in critical condition in surgical intensive care Saturday night.

The hospital spokeswoman said he now is in a regular room.

Moulton police are investigating what led to the attack and who attacked him.

Wreck kills Cullman man

HOLLY POND — A Cullman man died early Sunday in a one-vehicle wreck on U.S. 278.

According to a trooper report, Raymond Zachary Hill, 20, wrecked about midnight two miles west of Holly Pond.

The report did not say whether Hill was wearing a seat belt.

Details about what caused the wreck were not available.
