Council wants limited access to Alabama 20

The Decatur City Council approved a measure Monday that would ask the state to limit curb cuts on a 21/2-mile stretch of highway known for high-speed traffic accidents.

The Limestone County Commission could pass a similar resolution for Alabama 20 East, which would then be forwarded to the state Department of Transportation.

Decatur Mayor Don Kyle said the resolution requests that the DOT limit access to two points between U.S. 31 and Interstate 65: at a church development and at Bibb-Garrett Road.
