Decatur police arrest armed robbery suspect

Decatur police arrested a man early Sunday following an armed robbery outside an apartment building.

Frankie Cornelius Pickett, 23, of 421 16th Ave. N.W., was one of three people involved in the robbery, said Detective Chris Delgado.

Officers arriving at Cardinal Apartments on Cardinal Drive Southwest saw two men walking between the buildings take off running, said Lt. Chris Mathews, a police spokesman.

Officers caught Pickett after a short pursuit, Mathews said.

Delgado said the robbers were unable to take anything from the victim, 23-year-old Ulises Campos.

Police charged Pickett with first-degree robbery. He will be transferred to Morgan County Jail. His bond amount was not immediately available.
