Brother accused of trying to hire hit man
HUNTSVILLE (AP) - The brother of a Huntsville capital murder suspect has been indicted on charges he tried to hire a contract killer to take out two witnesses against his brother, who also is accused of hiring a hit man to commit murder.
Ron Boeckner, 68, of Las Vegas was extradited to Alabama and booked into the Madison County Jail on April 28. Boeckner was indicted in February on two charges of solicitation to commit murder.
Madison County Assistant District Attorney Randy Dill said Boeckner was arrested for allegedly trying to hire someone to kill two witnesses scheduled to testify in the capital murder trial of his brother, Raymond James Boeckner, 62.
Raymond Boeckner has been in jail since last June awaiting trial on a charge of hiring a hit man to kill Steve Spearman
of Huntsville. Four indictments were returned against Boeckner in February for allegedly trying to hire a contract killer to murder four people. His trial has been scheduled for Aug. 20.
The brothers are being held without bond.
