Fire chief Vinson retires in Moulton

MOULTON — Moulton Fire Chief Keith Vinson donned his firefighter hat and boots Monday for the last time.

The 25-year veteran of the Moulton Fire Department retired following a celebration with family, friends and fellow firefighters at the department.

Vinson began his career as a volunteer firefighter and later was hired full-time. The city appointed him fire chief in November 2002.

He said he became interested in firefighting while watching his then-girlfriend's father, the late firefighter Lloyd McCulloch, when he was in high school. Vinson later married McCulloch's daughter, Board of Education member Beth Vinson.

The Moulton City Council discussed Vinson's replacement during a work session Monday evening.
