Town Creek woman earns UNA honor

TOWN CREEK — A Town Creek woman won the highest award The University of North Alabama bestows on a graduating senior.

Teri Leigh-ann Wakefield received the Turris Fidelis Key during commencement Saturday. UNA awards the key based on scholastic achievement and outstanding university service. A joint committee of faculty and students choose the recipient.

Wakefield received a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in mathematics in secondary education. She graduated with a 3.977 overall grade-point average and a 4.0 grade-point average in her major field of study.

Wakefield has served the university as Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society president and Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society co-student vice president. She holds membership in Delta Epsilon Iota, Gamma Beta Phi, Kappa Delta Pi, Omicron Delta Kappa and Phi Eta Sigma honor societies. She was active in a number of campus organizations, including Habitat for Humanity, Freshman Forum, LaGrange Society, College Republicans and the University Committee on Discipline.
