Man, 60, charged with kidnap attempt

MOBILE (AP) — Police on Thursday arrested a 60-year-old Mobile man they said tried to abduct an 11-year-old girl the night before.

Police spokesman Officer Eric Gallichant said Henry Leonard Harriel tried to grab a girl he didn't know at about 7 p.m. Wednesday near the University of South Alabama Medical Center.

Gallichant said the girl struggled with the man and kicked him in the groin.

The man fled and the girl ran to the nearby Toulminville branch of the Mobile Public Library.

The girl called family and police from the library, and officers and family members arrived to search the neighborhood.
