Decatur EMS Week picnic Sunday

Decatur Emergency Medical Services is having a picnic Sunday to celebrate EMS Week. The picnic will be at Rhodes Ferry Park from 2 to 5 p.m. The event will feature food, door prizes and children’s face painting.

Sign-up starts for refuge day camps

Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge invites children ages 8 to 13 to spend a summer day with Ranger Daphne and her Critters on the Refuge program.

The camp includes outdoor activities such as scavenger hunts, plant identification, bird studies, studying native reptiles and amphibians, signs of wildlife, nature crafts and fishing.

The camps last from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children will need to bring a sack lunch and plenty to drink. Camp T-shirts will be available the morning prior to the start of the camp and cost $10. The program is free, but space is limited. To reserve a spot for one of the camp days, call 350-6639.

Junior camp is for ages 8 to 10 and will be June 6, 8, 13 and 14; July 18, 19 and 25; and Aug 1. Senior camp is for ages 11 to 13 and will be June 21, July 26 and Aug. 2.
