Man arrested on armed robbery charge

Investigators arrested a man on a charge of armed robbery for allegedly beating a man and taking his cash with the help of two accomplices, Decatur police said.

Detective Chris Jones said Timothy Oneal Brooks, 21, of 1204 Towerview St. S.W., who remained in Morgan County Jail on Friday in lieu of $10,000 bond, was one member of the trio. Police are still trying to identify his alleged accomplices.

The victim, Jeff Campbell, told police he was walking on Alma Street Northwest on April 4 when three men climbed from a car stopped at the Geddis Street intersection.

One brandished a handgun and another pulled out a knife.

The trio knocked Campbell to the ground, took his wallet and then climbed back into the car and left, according to the report filed by Campbell.
