Wreck victim dies at hospital

LACEY’S SPRING — A Huntsville woman died Saturday following a two-car collision near Lacey’s Spring.

Driver Mary Tingle Selah, 80, collided with another vehicle on U.S. 231 at Alabama 36 at 3:30 p.m., state troopers said.

Lacey’s Spring volunteer firefighters found Selah trapped in her car, and emergency dispatchers called a medical helicopter.

Lacey’s Spring firefighters requested assistance from Brindlee Mountain firefighters, asking them to bring a hydraulic tool to help extricate Selah.

A few moments later, officials at the scene canceled the air ambulance and assistance from Brindlee Mountain.

State troopers said Selah was wearing her seat belt. She died while in surgery at Huntsville Hospital.
