Poll says gas prices reducing driving

Two out of three people answering an online poll said gasoline is already pricey enough to curb their driving.

“How high will gasoline prices have to get to make you significantly reduce your driving?” the three-day poll asked at www.decaturdaily.com.

Of 140 respondents, 95 (67.9 percent) chose the option “It’s happened already.” Three said the price would have to reach $3.25 a gallon; eight said $3.50; two said $3.75; 17 said $4; and 15 said $4.25 or higher.

The unscientific poll ended Monday.

Limestone County man stabbed

BELLE MINA — A stabbing interrupted a Memorial Day family gathering Monday evening on Fennell Lane.

Emergency medical technicians with the Tanner Volunteer Fire Department tended to the victim, whose name was not available, and an ambulance took him to the hospital. Witnesses on the scene said he was walking around after the incident at about 7:30 p.m.

Limestone County Sheriff’s Department deputies and an investigator were investigating, but said they were not allowed to give out more information.
