Five new minors available at Athens State

ATHENS — Athens State University has added five new minors in its College of Business, according to Dean Linda Shonesy.

  • The E-commerce marketing minor is designed in response to the increasing growth and impact of the Internet on business and commerce. The minor will provide an additional option to management majors and will also be available to College of Business majors as well as students in other colleges

  • The health care management minor is designed in response to the increasing demand for highly qualified employees in the field of health care management.

The minor and the management core will be of particular interest to students who have completed associate degrees in health care-related fields.

  • The aviation management minor is designed to accommodate students with two-year degrees in aviation or flight technology, or students with undergraduate credits and aviation and/or military work experience. The minor addresses the coursework most often seen in a bachelor’s program for aviation management.

  • The information systems management minor directly addresses the skills required to successfully manage information systems and organizations in today’s world of high technology and rapid change. It is designed for career-minded professionals desiring to specialize their management skills towards information technology management. This minor is ideally suited for students with two-year associate or technical degrees in information systems, computer science, programming or related fields, or who have the appropriate work experience and general education requirements.

  • The manufacturing management minor addresses key skills required for successful management of manufacturing operations in today’s high-tech industries. Included are courses on International Organization for Standardization certification, lean manufacturing, quality control and process/facilities design.
