A Daily reader says a vehicle has been parked in the carport at 507 11th Ave. N.W. for about 15 years without a tag.

Hiding in plain sight

Location: 507 11th Ave. N.W.

Description: A reader complained that a red car has been parked in the carport for about 15 years without a tag. A Daily reporter noticed that the car also has a flat back tire and the right front tire is on a jack.

Property owner: Morgan County revenue commissioner records show that Lewis G. and Valenteen Robinson of Shaker Heights, Ohio, own the property. A telephone number was not available.

Ordinance: The ordinance requires the housing of inoperable vehicles, which includes those without license plates, within an approved, enclosed, covered structure so as not to be viewable from a public right of way.

Responsible officials: The property is in City Council President Billy Jackson's District 1. Jackson says he is not commenting on property in his district. David Lee, code enforcement officer with the city, said the Community Development Department has an active notice on this property, which means the department has sent a written notice to the property owner to correct the violation for the vehicle, and additional violations of the city code.

The Community Development Department also has a weed, junk and litter hot line that you can call to report a property at 341-4963.
