Florida man dies after dam plunge

A Tennessee Valley Authority spokesman said a man jumped to his death off Wilson Dam on Wednesday at 5 a.m.

TVAís David Boruff said 30-year-old Jeremy Lynn Wood jumped off the Pickwick Lake side of the dam. TVA police recovered the body and are investigating, but believe it was suicide. The Lauderdale County coroner was present.

Boruff listed Wood as from Panama City, Fla., but said he had relatives living in Lauderdale County. Local news reports said Wood recently moved back to Lauderdale County.

Golf event raises more than $25,000

Wayne Farms raised $30,000 for the American Cancer Society this year through various fundraising activities.

Wayne Farms operations manager, Brad Blackmon, said he is proud of the funds the company raised for the society.

The main fundraising event, Wayne Farmís annual golf tournament, brought in more than $25,000. Burningtree Country Club hosted the tournament.

Players faced off in competitions that tested their driving and putting skills.

139 golfers participated in the tournamentís premier event, a ď4-man scramble.Ē

Other fundraising activities this year included a silent auction and bake sales.
