Hiding in plain sight

Location: 2311 Sixth Ave. S.E.

Description: Weeds and grass as tall as four feet stand at the entrance to a mobile home sales lot on Decaturís second-busiest roadway. Itís a stark contrast to the Burger King next door, which is a perennial Beautification Award winner.

Property owner: Sav-More Homes. It has no office on property or listing in the Decatur phone directory.

Ordinance: Bans any unsightly growth of weeds, other than ornamental plant growth, exceeding 12 inches in height.

Responsible officials: Decatur Community Development. Code Enforcement Officer David Lee said the city has not received any complaints about the Sav-More Homes property. If the owner doesnít clear the weeds after notification, the city can do the work and charge the owner.
