DOTHAN (AP) — Officials held a departure ceremony Saturday for 170 members of the 1203rd Engineer Battalion activated for the Iraq war.

Another National Guard unit will have such a ceremony Sunday at the Cullman County Fairgrounds.

On Sunday, Gov. Bob Riley is expected to attend a departure ceremony at the Cullman County Fairgrounds for the 200-member Company C of the 167th Infantry Division, which departs for war duty on Tuesday.

At present, there are eight Alabama-based Guard units with more than 1,100 soldiers supporting operations in Iraq.
