HARTSELLE — Apparently struck in the head by a flashlight, a woman awoke to find two intruders in her home early Saturday, said an investigator with the Morgan County Sheriff's Department.
The robbers left the 51-year-old homeowner bound and gagged in her bedroom while they pillaged the house in the 1400 block of Vest Road.
The woman was home alone and asleep in the bedroom when the thieves forced a door open between 2 and 3 a.m., said detective Sgt. John Bili.
The thief who struck her was male, but the gender of the other was unknown, Bili said.
"They had a flashlight they shined on her" that made them hard to see, Bili said.
The robbers talked to each other but never spoke to the victim, he said.
The thieves were in the home for about 15 minutes and left with prescription medications, including Lortab and Xanax, and about $320 cash they found lying near a couch by the door, Bili said.
"She (the homeowner) managed to get free enough to make a phone call to 911 and a relative who came by to help free her as the deputies showed up," Bili said.
