Morgan board to evaluate 9 technology coordinator applicants by Thursday

Superintendent Bob Balch said he plans to have a recommendation on a technology coordinator Thursday at the Morgan County Board of Education meeting.

Nine applicants are seeking to fill the position left vacant in May when the school board did not renew the technology director's contract.

Last year, the state started requiring school systems to hire someone to oversee technology. The school system gets money from the state to pay for a coordinator position, so Balch changed the position from a director to a coordinator.

The meeting starts with a 5:30 p.m. work session.

The applicants: Marshall Kim Mooney, teacher, Falkville High School; Len Williamson, teacher, Danville Middle School; Abraham Hudgins, former programmer, Web Wheel Products in Cullman; Stancel Phillips, former instructor, Herzing College in Birmingham; Andrea Hodges, teacher, West Morgan Elementary; Greg McCreless, teacher, Cedar Ridge Middle School, Decatur; Margaret Willis, teacher, Brewer High; Dustin Balch, general manager, Fastenal Co. in Hartselle; and Thomas Garner, technology support specialist, EMCO in Madison.
