Developer plans to build riverfront luxury condos

"In the future, many people will want to live on the riverfront," opined the authors of the $200,000 "Envision Decatur" report in 2004, "which will create opportunities for new high-density residential development."
Waterfront Investments LLC believes the future is now.
The company, which has developed office and residential space along the Tennessee River near Rhodes Ferry Park, announced plans to add 12 luxury condominiums along the river.
The condos will be in a four-story building "architecturally designed and sited to take advantage of river views from condo covered porches," according to a statement Tuesday.
"The preliminary response has been fantastic," said developer Britt Sexton. "Four units have already been reserved."
Sexton said unit prices range from $312,000 to $439,000.
The condominiums are the sixth phase in the six-acre Waterfront Investments project. Previous phases include the corporate offices of Sextons Inc., town homes, a deli and boat dock access.
The planned completion date for the condominiums, Sexton said, is December 2008. Adjacent to Rhodes Ferry Park, the condos are near downtown Decatur and Bank Street.
The Envision Decatur report, paid for by the city of Decatur and the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, concluded residential development along the river is critical to Decatur's long-term economic health.
