The Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce has begun a new venture to consolidate several leadership groups.

The effort joins Decatur/Morgan County Leadership, Edge Leadership and Executive Leadership and creates two new groups called Experience Leadership and Eagles Leadership.

The joint effort produces a one-stop store for leadership training for any newcomers to Decatur, said Larry Little, director of The Enrichment Center who developed the venture, and it also establishes a networking group for existing leaders to solicit ideas and feedback.

"It's shared wisdom, bottom line," he said.

Decatur/Morgan County Leadership, run by the chamber, identifies and develops existing and emerging leaders with the goal of growing the business community.

Edge Leadership, run by Decatur City Schools and Decatur Youth Services, identifies and develops emerging high school leaders with the goal of enhancing positive growth in their respective communities.

Executive Leadership, run by the chamber and The Enrichment Center, identifies and develops existing leaders of business, industry and community with the goal of making them more effective leaders.

Of the two newly created groups, Experience Decatur aims to develop young professionals and Eagles Leadership aims to pair senior leaders with up-and-coming leaders in a mentoring role.

All five groups will meet once a month to develop common goals. Their first meeting was Wednesday.
