Alleged drug dealer arrested during raid

Drug agents arrested an alleged cocaine dealer during a raid on his house, Decatur police said Friday.

During a search at 804 Eighth Street S.W. on Thursday, officers seized more than 21/2 ounces of cocaine.

They also found marijuana and drug sale paraphernalia, according to Investigator Archie Letson of the Organized Crime Unit.

Arrested at the scene, Joseph Christopher Cowan, 33, faces charges of trafficking cocaine, second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Man faces charges of child sex abuse

A Decatur man is facing charges of sexually molesting a child
under the age of 12, according to Decatur police.

During an interview at the Morgan County Child Advocacy Center on Friday morning, a child revealed that Gregorio Ortuno Landero, 25, had had inappropriate sexual contact with him on several occasions since February 2006, said Sgt. Terry White of the Special Victims Unit.

The alleged abuses took place at Landero’s residence at 2025 Alabama 20, Lot 3-B.

Police arrested Landero after questioning him Friday afternoon.

He remained in Decatur City Jail on Friday, awaiting transfer to Morgan County Jail, where he will be held in lieu of $150,000 bond.
