Madison man gets life in father slaying

HUNTSVILLE (AP) — Julian Thomas Craft, who was convicted of murder in the shooting death of his father, has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

His father, Julian Thomas Craft II, 61, was killed Feb. 23, 2005.

A Madison County jury on April 17 convicted his 40-year-old son for the slaying.

Circuit Judge Laura Hamilton sentenced Craft on Friday as a habitual offender. Craft of Owens Cross Roads has three prior felony convictions.

Hamilton also ordered Craft to pay a $2,000 fine and $6,579 in restitution.
