Moulton approves hazard-duty pay
MOULTON — Moulton police officers and firefighters will get an extra $200 per month in hazard-duty pay beginning July 1. The Moulton City Council on Monday approved the extra pay for first responders. Moulton currently has 12 police officers on staff and four firefighters. The motion passed 3-1, with council member Lee Taylor opposed because it "popped" into the agenda before he had an opportunity to review it. Mayor Ray Alexander said the council discussed the hazard-duty pay during a work session June 11 that Taylor did not attend. Council member Keith Gilley, a volunteer firefighter in Moulton, was not present. - Kristen Bishop
