Police: Convenience store robber caught

Decatur police investigators said Wednesday they arrested a man who appears to be the one caught on tape robbing Somerville Mini-Mart on Saturday night.

Anti-Crime Unit officers found Patrick O'Neal Yar-brough, 24, at East Acres Apartments on Tuesday.

The robber had last been seen running toward the apartments after grabbing cash from the register at the 1024 Somerville Road S.E. convenience store, according to a report filed by the clerk who had been robbed.

Lt. Chris Mathews, a police spokesman, said the robber purchased an item to get the clerk to open the money drawer and then struggled with the clerk over a stack of $20 bills.

Detective George Silvestri said Yarbrough appears to be the same person recorded by the store surveillance system.

Yarbrough is charged with third-degree robbery. He was transferred to Morgan County Jail and released on $1,500 bond.
