Annual Alabama state bar meeting to include presentations by Bell Cobb, Jackson lawyer
MONTGOMERY (AP) — The Alabama State Barís annual meeting July 18-21 at Point Clear will include presentations by members of the state and federal judiciary.
In one session, Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Sue Bell Cobb is scheduled to discuss the state of Alabamaís judiciary and improvements in the administration of justice.
Los Angeles lawyer Thomas Mesereau, who successfully defended Michael Jackson against charges of child molestation, is among the featured speakers.
A panel of judges will review significant developments in the courts such as an analysis of the revisions to the Model Code of Judicial Conduct, which has been approved by the American Bar Association.
Samuel N. Crosby of Daphne will be installed as bar president for 2007-08. Alicia F. Bennett of Chelsea becomes vice president, the first black woman in that post, according to Brad Carr, the barís communications director.
