A neighbor called about the dismantled truck and clutter on the carport at 3621 Montclair Road SW.

Hiding in plain sight

Location: 3621 Montclair Road S.W.

Description: A caller complained that there is an old, dismantled truck sitting in the driveway that has been not been moved in more than a year. The caller also complained of clutter in the carport and around the house.

Property owner: Morgan County revenue records show that Kathy Joette and Earp Burks own the home. The phone number was unlisted, and The Daily could not reach them for comment.

Ordinance: It is unlawful for any owner of residential property to store or keep upon the premises any inoperable vehicle unless it is housed in an approved, enclosed, covered structure so it is not viewable from any street, alley or other public right of way.

Responsible officials: The home is in Councilman Ray Metzger’s District 5.

The city’s community development code enforcement officer, David Lee, said there was not a current complaint on the house, but in 2001, the owners were given a junk notice. Lee’s department will investigate.
