Spirit of America bicycle ride Saturday

The Spirit of America Annual Metric bicycle ride hits the road July 7.

The eighth annual event is a fundraiser for the Spirit of America Festival. Organizers describe it as a hilly ride.

It starts at Adventure Park on Beltline Road Southwest and has three end points, depending on the rider's endurance: 32, 62 and 100 miles.

Rest stops are every 15 to 17 miles, offering rider support.

Registration starts at 6 a.m. the day of the ride, and the mass start is at 7.

Helmets are required.

The cost is $25, and riders receive a T-shirt as long as supplies last.
