Athens to celebrate with a bang July 4

Reliance Bank in Athens will sponsor the fourth annual Fire Cracker Festival at Athens High School on July 4.

Beginning at 3:30 p.m., the festival will feature live music, children’s games, arts and crafts and food and a fireworks display. Proceeds will benefit the Athens High School Band and the Alabama Veterans Museum.

Schedule of events:

  • Activities:

    3:30-7:30 p.m.: Inflatable games for children, food booths, arts and crafts booths.

  • Live music:

    3-4 p.m.: Fat Little Break Dancers (alternative bluegrass).

    4-5 p.m.: Dixie Bluegrass Boys.

    5-6 p.m.: Clear Creek (gospel bluegrass).

    6-7 p.m.: Sound of Grace (gospel).

    7-8 p.m.: Piney Creek (bluegrass).

  • Dusk: Presentation of the Colors by the VFW; national anthem sung by Corrine Evans; fireworks by Reliance Bank.
